A multi-national partnership was revived last weekend to compete in the high profile Magic Man 34 event at the Perth Motorplex, Western Australia. US based driver Davey Ray joined Aggressor chassis chief Justin Insley and Synergy V8 engine designer Simon Longdill to revise their successful Australian Championship winning combination, partnering with Perth Based car owner Mark DeRosa and a new Aggressor / Synergy car. The event is a tribute to the late Michael Figliomeni, a hugely respected and talented driver, car builder and personality from the Perth area.
The event was a whirlwind of organisation, with final delays in customs clearance meaning the car was only delivered to the team on the friday of the first heat racing. Final preparations went well, and luckily the team had a basic setup to start the car from based on the last events they had run.
First time the car hit the track was for the hot laps and time trial event. Davey immediately felt comfortable in the car and was able to get the power to the ground. The car immediately looked fast, and the times confirmed it, final qualifying time was a 15.84 second lap, opening a clear 0.5 second margin on the next fastest car, top ranked Australian Mark Brown in a Aggressor / Hawk combination.

Brown Dogg Keeps On Winning |
Australian midget front runner Mark “Brown Dogg” Brown has continued his winning season throughout the late stages of the season.
For the second time in two weeks, Sydney's Mark Brown has walked away with the loot, claiming the 2008 TRUCK FACTORY South Australian Speedcar Championship at Murray Bridge Speedway.
Add to the tally winning both nights of the Easter nationals at Murray Bridge and a once again taking top honours at PCR on April 12th and you’ve got one hell of a trophy haul for the 2007 / 2008 Australian Speedcar Season. |

One of New Zealand’s leading midget drivers, Shayne Alach, will debut his new Aggressor #11 in the annually run John Webster Memorial meeting to be raced at Auckland’s Waikaraka Park on Saturday night.
Alach, who campaigned a Breka midget throughout the past New Zealand Summer, joins other top Auckland drivers Brad Mosen, Lance Beale and Bill Clarkson who each made the switch to driving a Kiwi built Aggressor at the start of the 2007-08 New Zealand season.
Along with his current sponsors, who include Diggalink and Ardmore Auto Rentals, Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil have joined the Alach team as major sponsors of the Aggressor #11.
Thirty one year old Alach is no stranger to racing on the ¼ mile Waikaraka Park dirt oval, many will remember Alach’s unforgettable spectacular driving display he put on at the Park in 2000. Racing at the track that night, in the ‘Speedway Super Expo’ meet, Alach turned heads with his fearless daredevil driving style, using every inch of the track, Alach put on a driving display reminiscent of some of legendary Kiwi great Barry Butterworth’s performances.
Along with Alach, 19 other Auckland drivers will contest the event including regular Western Springs front runners, Brad Mosen, Scott Buckley, Graham Standring and recently crowned 2008 New Zealand Champion Shaun Insley. - By Mike Nicholson |
