BUCKLEY TAKES MIDGET CAR GRAND PRIX |

The final meeting of the season at Western Springs Speedway, saturday 7 march, saw the running of the annual City of Auckland Midget Car Grand Prix. In a popular win, Aggressor driver Scott Buckley took the title, and also chalked up his first ever feature win at Western Springs. We wish him many more to come!

Austalia's Mark Brown continued his fantastic season winning the Australian Speedcar Grand Prix at Geelong Speedway 21 Feb. This brings his total to 8 Feature wins, five of which came in the prestigious Speedcar Super Series. The Team is looking to take that form with them to the USA were they will run the USAC Midget Series! Competing against the factory Toyota, Mopar and chevrolet Teams. |

The one signal's success in Midget racing that has so far eluded Shane Alach finally fell his way when he won the New Zealand Championship at Nelson Speedway on the 21st February. Alach's title is unique in as much as with his father Ray he completes only the second father/son pairing to win a national midget title joining Snow and Trevor Morris in the record books. Following the Alach Aggressor home in second place was Brad Mosen, similarly Aggressor mounted and completing the hat trick in third was Aggressor driver Angus McCleod.

Pickens rules the night at Arena Manawatu |

The NMCS Midgets travelling show fetched up at Arena Manawatu saturday night 22nd nov. A splendid multi lane track produced some great performances. Michael Pickens was in a class of his own in the Don Kay owned Breka Esslinger, crew chiefed by Steve Morris. Pickens won both his heats convincingly and produced what is becoming his signature charge through the field in the feature, not once but twice to take the win and the inaugural Arena Manawatu trophy. Aggressor driver Brad Mosen took a heat win, set fastest lap and ran second to Pickens in the feature and a similarly mounted Lance Beale took a heat win and a fifth in the feature. A well earned 3rd place in the feature went to Wayne Green in the Aggressor supported Breka Ed Pink.

Saturday 15th nov saw the midgets included on the program at Huntly Speedway. We were pleased to have the current Australian champion, Davey Ray back in an Aggressor on New Zealand soil. Davey celebrated his return in fine style, taking the Synergy V8 powered #88 to wins in both heats. Fortune didn't favour Davey so well in the feature, by now other teams had dialled in to the track conditions and Davey ran a 5th. However, Davey's disappointment was our delight as Angus McCleod, Shaun Insley and Steve Shanley made it an Aggressor 1st,2nd,3rd (places respectively) feature, and Angus' win made it an Aggressor "clean sweep"- 3 race wins in the heats and the feature as well ! |
