A "TRIPLEY" NIGHT AT HUNTLY SPEEDWAY |
|
Saturday 15th nov saw the midgets included on the program at Huntly Speedway. We were pleased to have the current Australian champion, Davey Ray back in an Aggressor on New Zealand soil. Davey celebrated his return in fine style, taking the Synergy V8 powered #88 to wins in both heats. Fortune didn't favour Davey so well in the feature, by now other teams had dialled in to the track conditions and Davey ran a 5th. However, Davey's disappointment was our delight as Angus McCleod, Shaun Insley and Steve Shanley made it an Aggressor 1st,2nd,3rd (places respectively) feature, and Angus' win made it an Aggressor "clean sweep"- 3 race wins in the heats and the feature as well ! |

A multi-national partnership was revived last weekend to compete in the high profile Magic Man 34 event at the Perth Motorplex, Western Australia. US based driver Davey Ray joined Aggressor chassis chief Justin Insley and Synergy V8 engine designer Simon Longdill to revise their successful Australian Championship winning combination, partnering with Perth Based car owner Mark DeRosa and a new Aggressor / Synergy car. The event is a tribute to the late Michael Figliomeni, a hugely respected and talented driver, car builder and personality from the Perth area.
The event was a whirlwind of organisation, with final delays in customs clearance meaning the car was only delivered to the team on the friday of the first heat racing. Final preparations went well, and luckily the team had a basic setup to start the car from based on the last events they had run.
First time the car hit the track was for the hot laps and time trial event. Davey immediately felt comfortable in the car and was able to get the power to the ground. The car immediately looked fast, and the times confirmed it, final qualifying time was a 15.84 second lap, opening a clear 0.5 second margin on the next fastest car, top ranked Australian Mark Brown in a Aggressor / Hawk combination.

PICKENS SERVES EARLY NOTICE |
|
The nov. 8th meeting at Western Springs saw Michael Pickens serve convincing notice that he will indeed be among the seasons front runners. Driving the #54 Little Rippers car, Pickens was never headed after arch rivals Shane Alach and Brad Mosen's Aggressors were sidelined by race accidents. The #54, owned by midget identity Don Kay, was re powered with an Esslinger engine in the Aggressor shop during the off season. Aggressor's Justin Insley reiterated his companys' intent to continue to support the Breka product for the forseeable future, and excited Picken's win as evidence of this.
