Mark Brown Wins Super Series Round 2 |
Sydney Speedcar supremo Mark Brown took out the major honours in round two of the Speedcar Super Series at Avalon Raceway on Saturday night. Coming into round two of the Speedcar Super Series as the reigning series champion, Mark Brown did his series defence no harm as he led every lap of the enthralling 30-lap final. Starting alongside Melbourne’s Troy Jordan on the front row, Brown got the jump at the start and never looked back to score a narrow win. Although challenged throughout the race littered with yellow light stoppages, Brown simply did not make a solitary mistake proving to be the difference as Jordan continually challenged for the lead on Brown’s inside. Originally from Victoria, Brown learnt his craft at tracks such as Avalon Raceway and the now defunct Brooklyn Speedbowl and it was a great homecoming for arguably Australia’s finest Speedcar racer currently. “Its good to be back here and you could call this my home track after racing for almost 21 years now. We struggled a bit in the feature, we know that but we will get it better and we will get it quicker,” confirmed Brown. Although it seemed Brown wasn’t the quickest car in the feature, he certainly made no mistakes allowing those behind him an opportunity to pass. |

Promising Start For Buckley |
Scott Buckley started the season the way he will hope to continue it, at the font of the field. The opening night of the Spring Speedway 2007 / 08 season was an action packed one with several crashes in all classes slowing the progress of the nights events. Amongst the damage was Shaun Insley who received a broken hand in one of the nights earlier events. Shaun's luck would continue through to the feature event where starting from the rear of the field with a strapped hand he managed to progress though the field only to have a diff blow in the car he was chasing ultimately causing him to spin to the infield. With no yellow light Shaun’s night was effectively ended. Several other Aggressor drivers also enjoyed a promising opening night with Bryce Townsend moving from back in the pack and big mover Brad Mosen making his way from 16th through to 6th. Top spot for the stable however went to Scott Buckley who finished a personal best 2nd in a Springs Speedway main event. |
